Offered for sale is this 1992 Acura NSX Coupe, finished in Formula Red over a black leather
interior, powered by a 3.0 liter V6 running through a five-speed manual transmission, with
85,000 miles on the clock.
This is a well-maintained example of the legendary NSX, which presents in excellent condition,
and comes equipped with thoughtful upgrades from period-correct NSX specialists. Any and all
issues have been addressed, and it needs nothing to be ready to go for the next owner.
The first-generation NSX represented one of Honda Motor’s first forays beyond affordable
automobiles and motorcycles, drawing high praise for the success of that endeavor. The
company drew on their industry-leading affordable quality construction – along with their
extensive successful racing history – while introducing pioneering engineering technology to
gain advantages over their competitors. In general, the early 1990’s saw major leaps into sports
and luxury markets for the Japanese companies, where cars like Toyota’s Lexus LS400, along
with Honda’s NSX and Legend, changed the automotive landscape permanently. After those
companies had spent decades operating on limited budgets that demanded creative engineering
solutions, that adversity paid massive dividends when their engineers were allowed to aim higher
in the market.
The current owner of this NSX purchased it in 2015, and has used it as a weekend summer car,
spending the winter months in a climate-controlled facility. When purchased, the previous owner
had just replaced all CV boots, the oil pan gasket, and installed a Science of Speed ABS kit. An
invoice indicates he added both the Comptech exhaust and Comptech Forgeline alloy wheels, in
17×8 front and 18×10 rear. The current owner had Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s installed, stamped
with 1519 date codes, with only 1200 miles of use.
Over the course of the last 8 years, the current owner addressed many maintenance concerns to
keep the NSX in like-new operating condition. At 83,700 miles, all 22 of the coolant hoses were
replaced with fresh OEM equipment. In 2018, at 84288 miles, all eight ball joints in the front and
rear suspension were upgraded to CarbonSix units, along with new OEM tie rods.
In September of 2020 the NSX had a new timing belt and water pump installed, and just this
year, had a new traction control module and relay installed. The exterior had a full paint
correction which was then protected with a full c.quartz ceramic paint coat, and many smaller
trim and rubber seals were also replaced. A thorough inspection of the car was performed,
resulting in a rebuild for the right rear caliper, but otherwise revealing no other issues to address.
The condition of the exterior of the NSX is excellent, with minimal chipping or finish flaws in
the nose, and consistent color tint across all the body panels, with tight even panel gaps. All
gaskets and seals are in excellent condition, and all glass is clear and free from cracks or chips.
The interior is very clean, with little evidence of age or wear. Some color fade is visible along
the seam of the driver side exit bolster, but the leather is intact and free from wrinkling, with no
damage to the stitching. An Alpine Bluetooth head unit is cleanly installed in the center console,
but the original factory head unit and an NIB center console bezel are included in the sale. The
climate control panel was serviced in 2015, by resoldering the circuit panel, and is working
properly.
The current owner has full binder of all receipts dating back to 2009, which will be included with
the sale. Additionally, an Excel Spreadsheet of all maintenance and work performed by the
current owner is available upon request, and can also be seen in the pictures.
