This 1980 BMW 635CSi, a European-specification example was imported to the US from Germany in 1986. It is finished in metallic blue over pearl leather, and is powered by a 3.5-liter M90 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission.This early E24 chassis coupe features include a sunroof, 14” BBS Mahle wheels, and Michelotti fog lights as well as a Blaupunkt cassette stereo and power windows. This Euro E24 is now offered with import documents, factory accessories, and a clean Carfax report. This is a first generation example of the 6-series coupe from BMW, and its Paul Bracq designed shape is one of the best from BMW’s best era. It took the best elements of its predecessor, the E9 3.0 CS coupe, and updated and streamlined it, making the reverse rake of the nose more pronounced, and streamlining the window pillar treatments all around. BMW sold the 6-series from 1978 until 1989, updating it along the way, but this European market example has many advantages over a US specification version. The M90 engine has 218 hp, 38 hp more than the US version from that year. Another difference are the substantially slimmer European bumpers, which integrate into the beautiful lines of the car – unlike the US bumpers, which quickly earned the nickname ”diving boards” for how far they extended. This 635CSi has thorough maintenance documentation, including recent work eliminating corrosion along the rear wheel wells, and is ready to go for the next owner.
