Offered for sale is this VF Engineering supercharged 2000 BMW 540i Touring, finished in metallic silver over a black leather interior, powered by a 4.4 liter V8 engine running through a five-speed automatic transmission, equipped with a VF engineering supercharger, with 53,571 miles on the clock. This is a very clean example of the classic BMW wagon. The E39 chassis of the 5-series BMW, which was produced from 1996 until 2003, is widely considered to be one of the best BMW chassis of all time. A well-blended combination of comfort and ability, it was roomy yet agile, and it’s simple taut exterior design still looks crisp even at this late date. But while the sedans were what got most enthusiasts attention, it was the Touring wagon that made a great case for itself – just as the SUV form factor was beginning to overtake the American landscape in the late 90’s. Just as spacious inside as most SUV’s, yet still significantly more agile and capable on fun roads, the 5-series Touring is a great driver. This particular example sports not only the 4.4 liter V8 that made it actually spirited to drive, but a VF Engineering supercharger kit, and is well integrated into the car.
