Offered for sale is this 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG, finished in metallic silver over a black leather interior, powered by a 5.4 liter V8 engine running through a five-speed automatic transmission, with 79,650 miles on the clock. This is a very clean example of one of the early in-house collaborations between Daimler-Benz and AMG, and is ready for the next owner. The C208 chassis was a marked departure from the previous mid-size Mercedes coupe, in both looks and intent. While the outgoing C124 leaned towards luxury more than sport, the new model was meant to capture a younger demographic with more aggressive exterior and a sharper more athletic driving experience. This was particularly true of the CLK55, a specification that not only included a more aggressive bodykit and the iconic AMG Monoblock wheels, but a stiffer suspension setup and the raucous M113 24-valve V8 with 342 hp – 120 hp more than any factory mid-size coupe from Mercedes had ever had for the US market. Well-equipped from the factory, this CLK 55 is stock and well cared for, with a clean finish and little sign of wear on the touch points in the interior.
